Carter BloodCare and Unity Unlimited unite for Fort Worth blood drive and career fair
Empowering You event set for June 14 – 15 at TCC Trinity River Campus
FORT WORTH – June 10, 2024 – The Empowering You: Education, Health and Job Fair is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15. Organized by Juneteenth Strong’s Unity Unlimited and supported by Carter BloodCare, it happens on Tarrant County College’s Trinity River Campus, at 300 Trinity Campus Circle.
Carter BloodCare will hold a blood drive at the Fort Worth event, which promotes health and well-being while observing the significance and spirit of Juneteenth.
Carter BloodCare supports a blood supply that reflects the entire community. Eligible donors are at least 17 years old – or 16 with parental consent – and weigh at least 110 pounds. There is no upper age limit.
Donations are also tested for the sickle cell trait, an inherited blood disorder.
By giving blood, donors help children fighting cancer, sickle cell disease patients, mothers going through difficult deliveries, patients with severe trauma after vehicle accidents and transplant recipients, among many others.
All blood types are needed, particularly O negative, the universal blood type. It can help treat any patient, which is vital in emergencies when the patient’s blood type is not immediately known.
Blood donors at the June 14 – 15 event can receive e-gift cards, reusable cup sets and more as thank-you gifts from Carter BloodCare.
