After winter storm, Carter BloodCare welcomes back and rewards donors
Two days of hazardous travel conditions forced Carter BloodCare to temporarily close North Texas donor centers and cancel blood drives last Thursday and Friday.
Now, with improved weather conditions, Carter BloodCare is welcoming and rewarding the public’s return to donating.
All blood types are needed, with many at critical levels. Critical status means less than one day’s supply of that blood type is available.
On the critical need list are A positive, A negative, B negative, O positive and O negative, the universal blood type to treat any patient and the only type used for premature and unborn babies.
Platelets, which are vital to control bleeding, are in demand, too.
In appreciation for donating, each whole blood or double red O negative donor will receive a $50 e-gift card. Platelet donors also receive a $50 e-gift card.
Plus, all Carter BloodCare donors will receive a $20 e-gift card through Jan. 17.
A hooded long-sleeved shirt is available while supplies last for donors in January and February.
