Donating Blood in Grand Prairie

Throughout 2024, we’re featuring each of our donor centers and what makes them unique. In June, we’re featuring our Grand Prairie Donor Center.

Conveniently located right off Interstate 20 at Carrier Parkway, the Grand Prairie Donor Center is one of Carter BloodCare’s southernmost centers serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It is a convenient donation option for residents of Duncanville and Cedar Hill, in addition to the more than 200,000 residents of Grand Prairie.

Because the Grand Prairie Donor Center is located in a dense population area and is one of the southernmost locations, it sees plenty of consistent donors. According to Site Supervisor Tamara Allen, the friendly atmosphere is a reason the center sees so many continuing donors. Allen says the staff treats donors like family.

Having worked at the Grand Prairie Donor Center for 15 years, nobody knows the culture and success of the center better than Allen does. Derek S., James P. and Barbara C. are among several donors that Allen can name off the top of her head as donors who have been regulars at the donor center over the course of her 15 years working there.

Another longtime donor is Cynthia S., who perhaps best demonstrates the familial atmosphere the staff brings to the donor center. Cynthia returns the favor by bringing treats for the staff each time she donates. As a platelet donor who is eligible to donate once every two weeks, Cynthia visits the center often.
